Fantasy Chapter Books for Kids

Reading a fantasy series with an older child is a creative way to connect and spark the imagination. There are also a number of ways to target speech and language goals while enjoying the series. During reading, children can practice speech sounds, make predictions and inferences, answer comprehension questions, and discuss character traits.

Below are suggestions of fantasy chapter books. Happy reading!

  • “Star Friends,” by Linda Chapman

  • "The Chronicles of Narnia," by C.S. Lewis

  • "Emily Windsnap," by Liz Kessler

  • "Dragon Girls," by Maddy Mara

  • "Harry Potter, by J.K. Rowling

  • "How to Train Your Dragon," by Cressida Cowell
