How Do I Know if My Child Needs to See a Speech Therapist?

ree

When speaking with other parents at the playground, I’m often asked, “How do I know if my child needs to see a speech therapist? Won’t they just grow out of it?” If you’re asking these questions, there’s a good chance your child can benefit from a speech and language screening!

The following are some signs that it may be time to reach out to a speech therapist:

  • Late Talking

  • Mispronouncing words

  • Getting “stuck” on words

  • Mouth breathing

  • Snoring

  • Messy eating

  • Prolonged pacifier use or thumb sucking

  • History of tongue tie
