Speech Sounds: Lisps

What is a lisp? An interdental lisp is a common error for children. It involves placing the tongue between the teeth when producing speech sounds, such as /S, Z, L/. Some children may also produce /T, D, N/ interdentally.

Lisping is typically not developmentally appropriate and may indicate an issue elevating the tongue. If you have concerns, it’s best to have a child screened by a speech therapist.
